Dear participant,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the EUROTHROMBOSIS SCIENCE 2008: FOCUS ATHEROTHROMBOSIS we are organizing in Barcelona. This meeting is an activity of the Working Group on Thrombosis of the European Society of Cardiology and this time it is sponsored by the Spanish Society of Cardiology Section of Coronary Heart Disease and its Working Group on Cardiovascular Thrombosis.
I am pleased to announce this meeting that will help to develop intense scientific relations among groups interested in unveiling the causes, mechanisms, clinical implications, and therapeutical options in atherothrombosis.
I wish you have an excellent stay in Barcelona and a very profitable congress.

Research and Development in Europe. The case of Ireland
Prof. D. Fitzgerald, Dublin (Ireland) - 13:20 - End of Congress
Intense scientific research has led to our current understanding that atherogenesis, lipids and other risk factors inflammation, coagulation, platelets, fibrinolysis and atherosclerosis progression are closely linked.
This is the reason why the Working Group on Thrombosis of the European Society of Cardiology chose to organize the Eurothrombosis 2008 to foster an intense interdisciplinary discussion among clinicians and basic scientists working in the field about their latest perceptions of atherothrombotic mechanisms.
Our aim is to facilitate the transition of the new understanding of atherothrombosis from bench to bedside and the translation of current state of the art knowledge into general clinical practice.
This congress is an activity of the Working Group on Thrombosis of the European Society of Cardiology.
