Graduated in Biology by Autonomous University of Barcelona (1980), she obtained the D.E.A. in Biochemistry by the University of Paris VI (France, 1984) with her work Haemophilia A and B Carrier Detection by using RFLP performed at the Molecular Genetics of Hemoglobinopathies and Haemophilia (Henri-Mondor Hospital, Crèteil, France) directed by Dr. M. Goossens. And she obtained the degree of PhD in Human Genetics by the University of Paris VII (France, 1989) by the work Cytogenetic Study of Xeroderma pigmentosum done at the Structure and Mutagenesis Laboratory (CNRS URA 620), Institut Curie, (Paris) and directed by Dr. B. Dutrillaux.
She is recently working in several projects, being the main one the study of the modelation candidate genes of cardiovascular risk in Familial Hypercholesterolemia disease (Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia, OMIM 606945), a monozygotic disease due to mutations in the LDL receptor gene, which has an important variability in the onset of atherosclerosis.
