Teresa Padró Capmany is a senior scientist at the Catalan Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences (ICCC) since March 2006. Dr. Padró is in charge of the proteomic research group. She is responsible of different projects aim to the identification, characterization and functional analysis of novel protein biomarkers related to atherothrombosis and myocardial infarction.
Teresa Padró has a PhD in Biology by the University Autònoma de Barcelona. Her research work has mainly focused in the field of haemostasis and vascular biology since the initial studies for her doctor degree at the CSIC (Centro de Investigación y Desdarrollo) in Barcelona. Afterwards she went on with her studies in these areas at the Gaubius-Institute TNO in Leiden (The Netherlands) and at the University of Münster (Faculty of Medicine) in Germany. In a first period she was working as post-doctoral fellow (post-doctoral research grants of the European Community and the von Humboldt Foundation) and latter on as senior scientist for ten years within different research projects funded by governmental institutions in Germany. Currently, she is the principal investigator in a FIS funded project and co-investigator in different projects of the institute with governmental or private economical support.
