Laura Casaní is a researcher at the Cardiovascular Research Center, center created by association of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Catalan Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences (ICCC). She is Doctor in Veterinarian Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, UAB (1992-1997), master in pharmacology and PhD at the UAB. She also developed a pre-doctoral research fellowship at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, Unité de Recherches sur les Herbibores, in France.

Dr. Casaní is the Responsible of the Experimental Animal Facility (UEA) of Catalan Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences (ICCC) from December of 2003. Her principal duties as a Welfare and Health animal responsible is to manage the UEA, supervision of facilities, animals and experimental procedures with animals, the attention and assessment to the users of the UEA and collaboration in studies performed with experimental animals. Also, she is a member of the Animal Experimentation Committee of the CSIC-ICCC, the main goals of this committee are the revision and the approval of experimental procedures with animals which are performed in the UEA and the supervision and the follow up of the proceedings used.
